Introduction to Geography

Day One
  • Discussed Wall Map (continent names, what continent we live on, etc)
  • Listened to WeeSing Around the World "Hello to All the Children of the World"
  • The World Worksheet (from the "The World" workbook - Target $1 spot)
  • Introduced Passport and explained process
  • Read Our Earth, by Anne Rockwell
  • Read p. 1-9 Maps & Globes
  • Free play with Fly & Learn Globe
  • Continent Game on TAG World Map followed by free play

He colored the continents by color and I wrote in the labels once we discussed them.

Day Two
  • Reviewed continents (quizzed)
  • Read Sticker Atlas Earth's Landscapes page
  • Colored EE World Map (by continent), label continents and oceans (photo right)
  • Listened to WeeSing Around the World "Hello to All the Children of the World"
  • Free play with Fly & Learn Globe
  • Read p. 12-17 Maps & Globes

Day Three
  • Reviewed continents (quizzed)
  • Free play with TAG World Map

Will continue to review all the continent names throughout our entire journey. I have used the Continent Hop game pieces and hung them up to 'announce' what continent we are currently on, hoping to reinforce learning.
